Blandine Shah People & Culture Project Manager

What has been your career path so far?

I have worked in Human Resources since an internship at a hotel HR department as part of my degree. I started my career with an HR graduate programme in Banking where I gained my level 7 CIPD qualification. Since then, I have taken advantage of the transferability of HR skills and worked in different sectors, including housing, retail, trading and shipping. I have worked primarily as an HR Generalist and there is not an area of HR I haven’t touched! Some of my roles have given me some international exposure and I have enjoyed working diverse environments.

What do you enjoy about the charity sector?

The charity sector plays an ever-growing part in society and is providing essential services in many areas. It’s a privilege to work for a Firm that is an actor focussed on that sector. Even working in Operations, it gives a real sense of purpose to the job.

Best part of the job?

Boredom is not part of the vocabulary. I find it energising to work with people, identifying what I can do to support and develop them to be their best at their job. There are always processes to improve and new things to learn which keeps me on my toes. As a People team, we are always on a journey to make the employee experience better, upskill colleagues and ensure we are working effectively. It is rewarding to be a part of making Sayer Vincent an inclusive and great place to work for.

What is something people may not know

I grew up in Switzerland which is also where I studied International Hospitality Management for my degree at EHL Hospitality Business School in Lausanne. An initial move to Northampton for a two-year contract became a little more permanent … 15+ years later it feels very much like home.

What do you get up to outside of work?

I have a keen interest in nutrition, psychology, and wellbeing. I enjoy reading up about it and listening to webinars. I love walking in the countryside or by the sea and just mindfully looking at nature around me. As much as I’d love to be gardening… my green finger experiments are limited to a few pots on the patio and my indoor plants. I love a good swim to keep active and even better if it’s in a lake or the sea. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, as well as cooking or baking when time permits.
