What has been your career path so far?
After studying history at university, I knew I wanted to move to London and experience at least a few years living and working there but after completing my training at Sayer Vincent and qualifying in 2018, I decided to stay and continue my career in charity accountancy. I specifically enjoyed the tax work during my training and now work with the tax team at the firm in corporation tax compliance.
Tell us something people may not know
I have been living in Italy for a while now and have been working remotely, which has been possible due to the continuing COVID-19 restrictions. I’m a bit of a collector of hobbies but perhaps most notably I have done a bit of Tai Chi and Jiu Jitsu over the years.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy working with charities specifically because it gives me a sense of purpose, especially working with smaller charities. I like getting down to the technical detail and the value this gives to my clients when they have questions or problems. The people I work with both at Sayer Vincent and the charities are amazing and do great work.
What do you get up to outside of work?
I enjoy baking and am now trying to master baking baguettes. I am also the treasurer of a Scottish charity that produces interactive and immersive theatre.
Currently I have the privilege to be able to get on a train and go to Florence or Rome etc, and so have been taking in the culture while I can (as well as enjoying the pasta!).
