Leah Matthews Head of Change and Operations

What has been your career path so far?

I studied Biology at University with a view to becoming an ecologist, however I have always been drawn to the not-for-profit sector. After starting my career in local government, I moved to London and searched for a values-led organisation to be part of. I originally joined Sayer Vincent as part of the Client Services Team and have held a number of roles before becoming Change & Operations Manager.

What drew you to the charity sector?

Having a shared sense of purpose with colleagues, regardless of role, is fantastic. It is also incredibly motivating to know that everything we do supports the real-world impact that charities and not-for-profit organisations make.

What do you enjoy about your job?

It’s an exciting time at SV. As we grow we continue to explore how to adapt and develop our ways of working so that we can continue to provide added value for our clients and the sector. I enjoy problem solving and championing innovation, and there are always plenty of plates to keep spinning to make sure we deliver the right things at the right time and pace.

What do you get up to outside of work?

Outside of work I try to spend lots of time outdoors. If the British weather gets in the way of that I enjoy exhibitions and musical theatre, and film. I have recently discovered some vintage flea markets in my local area and can often be found browsing the stalls at weekends.
