What has been your career path so far?
I knew I wanted a career that would involve working with numbers. At university, I became involved in charity fundraising and acted as a treasurer for the charity fundraising society which gave me an initial taste of charity accounting. I joined Sayer Vincent as a trainee and stayed for 10 years, progressing to an audit and tax manager managing a wide portfolio of clients.
Tell us something people may not know
I left Sayer Vincent in 2018 and spent two years working at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport. Here I gained valuable experience of operational finance, as well as working within the Civil Service during the time of dealing with the challenges of exiting the European Union and the Coronavirus pandemic.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I am a returnee to Sayer Vincent and am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to re-join in an advisory role, supporting clients on a range of issues but particularly taxation such as Gift Aid, VAT, and direct tax. I enjoy assisting clients that deliver work I can identify with and it is fantastic to see the value of the work they undertake.
I love problem solving too, and there are always new challenges and applications with tax! Engaging with clients though leading training seminars is also something I really like doing as part of my job and allows me to meet a wide range of people.
What do you get up to outside of work?
I have recently taken up running again and am also a frequent watcher of Crystal Palace when I get any spare time as I am kept very busy by my young family.
